Newborns

As parents of a baby born in April 2010, we have found nothing in the world to be more exciting, life-altering and fantastic than a newborn baby. As photographers, we are constantly chasing our passions and capturing pregnancy, birth and babies is Allie's passion. Baby portrait sessions are relaxed, fun and custom to your babe. We offer in-hospital, in-home sessions as well as on-location when weather permits. We are looking to offer natural light studio for newborns in the coming months.

I'm having a baby! I want you to be a part of my birth team!
Awesome! I am a birth photographer with 6 births under my belt. I am training to become a certified doula (birth coach) and hope that this training will give me the best knowledge and support available during your labor and birth. Email alliedbennett@yahoo.com for a questionnaire to determine if your due date and birth plans are compatible with our current schedule.

How soon should I schedule my maternity/newborn shoot?
We suggest getting your estimated due date on our schedule as early as possible, these things are unpredictable, but it helps us to stay organized and not to over-book.

We suggest doing maternity sessions at around 36 weeks pregnant. Some mamas do one earlier in pregnancy and one later, but for most 36ish weeks is good timing.

We ask that you schedule your newborn shoot in the first 2 weeks of life, while your baby is still sleepy.

How do I schedule my session?

We then wait for your little ones arrival and ask that you let us know when he/she is born so we can then schedule you more solidly with a date & time.

I want my newborn session to happen in the hospital,
how does that work?
I only shoot photojournalistically in the hospital or at your home birth. If you want the fleeting first days captured you can check out a first 48 session here on the blog. Cost for this session + digital files is $350.

How long does a session last?
Each family and baby are different and I don't like to put a time frame on the creation of these images. I hope you will allow us to linger for an hour or more during the studio sessions, to creatively work and use our array of props as well as things you wish to include from your own home. First 48 sessions are generally an hour or so, depending on the wakefulness of the babe, feeding schedules and other factors.

What about the outdoor photographs on your page?
I'd like to do something like that with my babe.
Portraits can be taken on-location and included on any session, at the discretion and supervision of the babe's parents. If you have a location in mind not near your home, let's talk about scheduling a session on-location.

Who can be included in a newborn shoot?
For the first newborn portrait session, anyone that resides in the home can be included. If you have requests for grandparents or other family/friends, we can make that happen at a separate shoot.

My baby is no longer a newborn,
do you still photograph older babies and kids?
We do as long as our schedule permits. We book lots of babies, and they are first priority, so book early.
